Biography: Jessica Israelstam is a Registered Psychotherapist. She holds a Masters of Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Toronto and an Honours BA in Psychology (Summa Cum Laude) from York University. Jessica has a decade of experience providing mental health services to individuals from diverse backgrounds, in private practice and university settings. She works with adults 18-75, including students and working professionals. She has experience working with LGBTQ+ folks, newcomers, and people living with a disability; and she believes in making the therapy office a safe space for marginalized individuals. She has also facilitated several Mindfulness Meditation groups.
Her integrative approach includes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based therapies, ACT, Relational Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Compassion-Based Therapy. She believes clients are the best experts on themselves. She collaborates with clients, combining their expertise with her own, to tailor therapy to clients’ unique needs and objectives. She helps individuals develop specific skills to foster strong mental health. She supports clients in coming home to their bodies, in the present, to find the compassion and stability needed to meet the challenges of everyday life.
She has supported individuals struggling with General Anxiety, social anxiety, Stress, OCD, grief and loss, Anger Management (non-violent), pain and disability, sleep problems, relationship issues (individual therapy), people-pleasing, perfectionism, and self-image issues.
Jessica strives to bring empathy, authenticity, insight, and calm into the therapy room.
