The Treatment Process

A usual course of treatment for a specific disorder, such as anxiety disorders, lasts between 8 and 16 sessions, which are typically 50 minutes in length. Frequency of sessions: weekly or every two weeks.  Long-term treatment also provided when required.

The ultimate goal is to teach clients skills and techniques that will help them:

  • Create a greater sense of control over emotions in challenging situations
  • Identify and address cyclical patterns of dysfunctional behaviour
  • Generate a sense of achievement, competence and self control
  • Increase self-esteem and self-respect
  • Address future difficulties and limit the potential for relapse
